The Curious Case Of Michael Steele

Well it seems like it is finally starting to show. It has been about two years since Barack Obama became the first african american president in U.S. history. Of course you know, Barack Obama is a democrat. Well, the republicans made their own history. Michael Steele became the first african american chairman of the GOP. Some would instantly think it was destined to be a a failure.

To his credit, the GOP made significant gains this election year. However, Michael Steele isn't able to celebrate the victories. There are a couple of reasons as to why he can't. One of the reasons is that the GOP didn't win because they offered better plans. They won because they lied about everything the democrats did and the democrats did a horrible job telling the american public the truth. Another reason is because he is responsible for a list of errors, blunders, and misquotes that rivals Sarah Palin's list. Now to make things worse, republican supporters are starting to reject him solely on the basis of his race.

Now enough is enough. You can criticize President Obama and say vicious, bigotted, and blatantly stupid things about him because he's black, but not Michael Steele. Jog your memory back to the "Barack The Magic Negro" controversy. Who was in defense of it? Some guy named Michael Steele. Now racism has rearred its ugly head in his direction. Now he's being called out by those on his own side, again. On CSPAN, the host opened up the lines to republicans to see if they were in favor of Michael Steele keeping his position as GOP chairman. Most of the response was negative. The highlight however was when a few callers stated that they are against him because.......he's black. Don't choke on your food people. They don't support him because he's black. Now if you're waiting on the republicans to come out and denounce this, keep waiting. It's not gonna happen.

Michael Steele finds himself in a precarious position. Sarah Palin is the conservative darling and you can rest assured that they would love for her to take the reigns of the party. However, Michael Steele, to his credit was chairman over one of the largest GOP gains in generations. The "This Is Obama's War" remark about Afghanistan, the "Bondage Gate" incident, and many others, plus the fact that he's a black man in a pary that....well, they really don't like minorites. These things have put him in a bad way. It will be interesting to see if he keeps his job. He's supposed to be the second coming of Clarance Thomas, but that's impossible. In about 10 years, maybe less, both of them may be out of a job. But when it comes to the embarrassment factor, Steele takes the cake. Too bad he spent so much time bashing liberals. They would've been willing to stand by him during these tough times. With him being a minority and everything.
